語り継がれる【星の系譜】は、感動の終幕(フィナーレ)へ
人間の愚かな戦争は、世界を雪で覆い、確実に滅びへと向かわせていた。隆盛を誇った文明も加速度的に荒廃していき、人口も10万人を切ろうとしていた。星すら見えないこの世界では、人々は地上で暮らすことも難しく、地下の集落に身を寄せ合って暮らしていた。かつて「屑屋」と名乗っていた男は、過去のある出来事がきっかけで「星屋」と名乗るようになり、“星の美しさ”を彼が訪れる集落の人々に伝えていた。その知識の深さとたたずまいから、いつしか、人は彼のことを“星の人”と呼び、敬うようになった。そして、世界を旅しながら、老いていく星の人には、ただ一つの心残りがあった……。
星の人は、旅の途中行き倒れた集落で、レビ、ヨブ、ルツの三人の少年少女と出会う。星に興味を持つ彼らの姿を見ていると、かつて自身が若かりし頃に出会ったロボットの少女の面影が思い出されていく。彼女と出会った場所、そこは封印都市と呼ばれるところだった―

key作品は何度も見て理解が深まるほど、感動が大きくなるんだよなあ・・・
聞いたことない作品だったけど、見てみたらラストで号泣してしまった。
ほんとKEYは神
俺泣ける作品探してて見たんだけど泣けなかった。でも久しぶりに見たいなって思ったらなんか色々と思い出してすげえ泣けたんだよな。昔の俺は一回見ただけじゃきっと大切なことに気づけなかったんだなと思うわ。最近は一回目でも泣けるようになった。星が綺麗だな。
key作品では文句なしの一番だけど、これまでに私が見たすべての映画で断トツ一番。
これほど綺麗な作品があるのだろうか、思い出すだけでも泣けてくる。

このアニメは、なんか、凄く深いものを感じた。言葉にならない事を伝えてくれたような気がする。
今日観に行きました。ラスト20分位、涙が止まりませんでした。この作品に出会えて本当に良かった・・・。
本編回想あるので、アニメ本編観てない初見さんでも楽しめます。

yes. its a sequel based on a Audio CD lanched some years ago, you can find the Audio Drama in web but i dont found subs

First 4 episodes of ONA were very beautiful, sad and sincere. It was a gasp of fresh air in the sea of bland ongoings. But after watching Ep 5 I had mixed feelings. Walking right into machinegun fire seemed too simple, I know it was explained, but why would you end such a magnificent story with such a plain "twist". But overall impression was still very high. I liked that despite of ssad ending, they left a hope of Junker finding a new body for Yumemi and "reviving" her by loading a memory card.

Now I see this trailer. I know this anime is based on drama CD but I'm talking about both.
Why the hell Junker is so fucking old? What was he doing all this time? Why did he find a body for her only at this age? This is already cheap. Have you any limits in tearjerkery?
But for fuck's sake - dying right before reviving her?! This is ridiculous - it seems like a one of poor choices you can make in visual novels instead of making story blossom.
You know that ending in Saya no Uta when Fuminori ends up in mental hospital?
Hoshi no Hito seems just like it - poor choice.

All answers to your questions are in that same Drama CD. If you don't want to wait for the movie, you can watch CD here on youtube. For better story, than that in anime, read original novel (personally, I think endings to both VN and CD were plain beautiful).
yeah I also think it was kinda dumb that he just fucking dropped dead right in front of the new body. To be honest that is my only complaint with this entire series. Its just stupid, like who wrote that?
+Chandler Corn the funny thing is that, it's written by the same person, who wrote script for original VN (Planetarian: Chiisana Hoshi no Yume) - Yuichi Suzumoto. Maybe he wasn't getting enough time/money or had some bigger project to write at the same period. Because this ending looks like a cheap soap opera.
I got my piece of mind by ignoring it. Chiisana Hoshi no Yume is a separate work and you can think out your own turn of events. 5th episode gave enough potential for that - Junker wasn't severely injured during the fight, he only needs to heal his leg. He has card with Yumemi's memories and a whole megapolis to explore. So there is totally no need for him to wait until he gets super fucking old to dramatically die right in front of new body)
ミストからのJohnny Its surprising to me that it was written by the same guy. In both the VN and the ONA I was amazed by the ability of the writers as such talented storytellers, which is also why I was so shocked to see such an annoying plot device. Something must have happened behind doors that led to this getting cut off so abruptly. Maybe issues with the voice actor for Yumemi? I dunno.
+Chandler Corn yeah, usually great works don't have sequels or those are great as well (if made by the same people). First time I see disappointing situation like this.
But we already have our masterpiece, so there is no need to be upset.
